Silvija Petrić is a retired Professor of the Faculty of Law, University of Split. Her interest areas include civil law, European private law and consumer protection law. She studied at the Asser College Europe in Haag, and at the University of London – Institute of United States Studies. As a member of the Working Group 28 for the Chapter “Consumer and Health Protection”, she was actively engaged in the negotiations on Croatia's accession to the European Union. She was the head of the scientific and research project titled “Contractual and Non-Contractual Responsibility of Manufacturers and Service Providers”, which was launched by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia within the framework of the Scientific Program titled “Protection of Weaker Parties on the European and Croatian Market of Goods, Services and Capital”. Along with co-authors of the monograph „Banking and Financial Contracts“, she obtained the dr. sc. Jadranko Crnić Foundation Award in 2017. She is the member of the presidency of the Lawyers Association in Economy Split, the Society for Civil Law Science and Practice in Croatia and of the Croatian Comparative Law Association.
