Jacolien Barnard is a professor at the Department of Mercantile Law, Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is also an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a NRF-rated researcher, holding a C2 rating. She is a member of the International Association of Consumer Law (IACL) and head of the conference committee for the University of Pretoria International Consumer Law Conference (UPICLC) held bi-annually since 2014. Jacolien has authored and co-authored various national and international scholarly publications on Consumer Protection Law and presented on both national and international platforms in this regard. She teaches Consumer Protection Law and Law of Specific Contracts (Sale, Lease, Agency, Surety) on undergraduate and postgraduate level including post-graduate research supervision.
