Pascal Pichonnaz is Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). He specializes in Swiss and comparative contract law, Roman law and European consumer law. Pichonnaz has been Dean of the Fribourg Faculty of Law from 2014 to 2017. He has published several books on various aspects of contract law, unfair competition, standard terms and consumer law, as well as on arbitration Law and Roman law. His extensive list of publications as well as his research projects covers all these topics.
He has been visiting Professor at several Universities, including Georgetown Law, Hong-Kong, Shanghai ECUPL, Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris Panthéon-Assas, Rome Tor Vergata, Istanbul, Liège, Montpellier and others. He is chair and member of several editorial boards of Legal Journals in Switzerland and abroad. He is also an international commercial arbitrator and an arbitrator for the Court of arbitration in Sport. He is currently president of the Federal Commission for Consumers in Switzerland. Professor Pascal Pichonnaz is also vice-president and elected president of the European Law Institute (ELI).
